What holds for all three

Four points you are better off knowing beforehand than after ten minutes of searching.

Everything is computed in the browser. Your SMILES line, your formula and the structure you drew are not sent to a server.
You can use them with no account and no install. The PNG download comes with a free account, and saving a result as flashcards comes with Essential.
The data sets behind them are the same ones the app uses: 66 compounds in the structure formula generator, 52 in the 3D molecule builder, 649 formulas in the formula sheet and 118 elements in the periodic table.
None of the three simulates chemistry or physics. They render and compute, they do not predict. Reaction equations, equilibria and kinetics are not part of them.

From the result to a flashcard

All three tools end at the same place: a result you want to keep.

Draw a structure, render a SMILES line or type a formula. Up to this point none of the three tools needs an account.

Ask for flashcards
The button only appears when a checked data set sits behind the result: a known compound or a formula from the formula sheet. Without one the back of the card would be guesswork, and a guessed back is worse than no flashcard at all.

Sign up and keep learning
From Essential, after signing up, the flashcards sit in a topic and are reviewed with FSRS-6. A free account is all you need for the PNG export.

Frequently asked questions about the tools

Are the Quanta tools really free?

Yes. The structure formula generator, the LaTeX formula editor and the 3D molecule builder cost nothing and require no sign-up. Turning a result into flashcards saved in your Quanta account comes with Essential.

Do I need an install or an account?

Neither, only the PNG download needs a free account. All three run in the browser. The 3D molecule builder does need a window of at least 1024 pixels, because the element picker, the bond tools and the 3D view sit side by side. The structure formula generator and the LaTeX editor work on a phone as well.

Is what I type stored anywhere?

The tools compute on your own machine. Your SMILES line, your formula and the structure you drew are not sent to a server. Only when you turn them into flashcards does the content travel into your Quanta account.

Which tool do I use for what?

For a flat structural formula from a SMILES line, the structure formula generator. For the spatial arrangement, the molecular formula and the molar mass, the 3D molecule builder. For mathematical, physical and chemical formulas, the LaTeX formula editor. The three do not overlap.
